Swimming pool builder, Jim Chandler, completes a beautiful swimming pool and spa in Roseville.
When I first saw the beautiful landscaped yard I was impressed by the established mature peaceful park like setting. Features included in the landscape setting were a stone bridge which the homeowner wanted to keep and an existing curved stone and brick capped retaining wall. The yard was simply lovely.
I knew designing a pool and spa for the multi-level terrain yard was going to be a challenge.
I spent a lot of time with my 3D design program “Pool Studio” drawing the existing landscape and shaping the contour of the land, measuring the existing wall and bridge with a laser level which all had different elevations. This is my passion. Finally I had a swimming pool design to present to the homeowner!
I remember setting up my laptop at the homeowners kitchen table to show her what I had created. She asked
“Am I about to be wowed?” I said yes!
One of the many construction challenges of the project was preserving the existing concrete from damage. To get the bobcat excavator and tractor in the yard over a meandering 5ft walk, the access had to be protected from scratches and gouges. I decided to protect the walk with many sheets plywood. After we finished the Roseville swimming pool, the concrete looked beautifully untouched as if no heavy equipment was ever in the yard.
Also, the elaborate irrigation and drainage systems were re-routed and re-plumbed to meet the new design requirements. I called on a local pro Mike Clark of Clarks Landscape and Design to meet this challenge. Mike worked with the home owner as she also likes to garden and wanted to do a lot of the plantings herself.
Another major construction challenge of the Roseville Enchanting Garden Pool was encountering ground water. I set up an under drain pump system something like a well to mitigate the ground water problem. Every night the ground water table would seep into the pool which had to be pumped out so that the workers could do their job. In addition I had to take great care to prevent silt from the construction site from entering the City drainage system.
The plastering company said they were impressed and really appreciated the special attention to installing the under drain system to deal with the ground water. The under drain system assures that the plaster finish will be aesthetically pleasing.
The homeowner selected White Diamonds Pebble Sheen finish which looks absolutely dazzling!
One year later I received a phone call from The Roseville Enchanting Garden Pool owner.
Here’s what she said,
“We are totally enjoying our pool! It has been a source of great fun! We really appreciate the design and all the hard work you did. Our pool is wonderful!”
